25th Anniversary

In November this year, Newcomers to Chester will celebrate 25 years from its foundation - we can hardly believe it!
The celebration will take place a little early to catch the last summer weather (?!?), so please mark your calendar:

Saturday September 17, 2016
2:30 - 5:30
Afternoon Tea with Pimms
at Edgar House
a lovely, elegant venue in the heart of Chester, up on the city walls with views of the river.

We are looking forward to seeing you and having a great time!

Summer 2015

I know it is supposed to be the beginning of summer, but where is the sun? I hope it appears soon so we can have another truly British summer like last year. You cannot beat the English/Welsh landscape when the days are dry and balmy.
Here are our offerings for the next few months. If you have a suggestion, please let us know and we will add it to the list.

Museum Exhibitions
  • June 11: Picturing Venice, Lady Lever Art Gallery. Jacqui is going to this exhibition on Thursday 11, June, but it is also on until 27 September in case you cannot make that date.

Musical Events
  • June 30: Eaton Hall Concert, 7:30. Please contact Betty for more information and tickets/
  • June 3-13: Chester Music Festival. Jacqui is going to the Sophie Rosa concert on June 5 at 8pm. If you are interested in going to any other event, please choose the date and let the other members know in case they would like to join you.
  • June 19: Tenovus Concert in Wrexham. Barbara G is in the choir, so come and support her and the charity by purchasing a ticket from her for the event.

Film Night
We are trying to make this a regular event, so if you want to see a special film, invite the group the last Wednesday of the previous month for something that is on in the first week of the following month. Let everyone know what you plan to see, where, and when - we are sure you will get a lot of film buddies!

Farewell Lunch for Luisa and Tim
As many of  you already know, Luisa and Tim are moving to be closer to their grandchildren. They have been wonderful longstanding members of  Newcomers and we are sorry to see them go. To help them celebrate their new ventures elsewhere (which have been delayed for various reasons), we hope to give them a good sendoff and have a glorious lunch sometime in the Summer. As soon as we have a firm date and location, we will let you know.

Here are our offerings for the next few months. If you have a suggestion, please let us know and we will add it to the list.

Film Night
We wanted to make this a regular event, so we decided we would set a date to go to the cinema on the first Tue/Wed/Thu of the month, depending on who is going and what they are going to see. Watch our for email invitations, or if you want to see a special film, invite the group the last Wednesday of the previous month. Let everyone know what you plan to see, where, and when - we are sure you will get a lot of film buddies!

You can also pop in on the day if you cannot commit in advance.
